DAHLIA TUBER SALE POLICIES
PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING:
Our fifth annual dahlia tuber sale will begin on Saturday February 1st at 10am PST. Make sure you join our email list here for any updates.
Please note that all varieties will show on our website as SOLD OUT until the sale opens on February 1st, 2025, at 10am PST.
Items will be removed from our website on Friday January 31st at noon so that inventory can be uploaded and will reappear on Saturday at 10am.
Over the past six seasons we've been building our stock of our favourite dahlia varieties for home gardeners and cut flower growers. Our tubers are grown with love here in the Fraser Valley. We diligently monitor plant health and have strict growing, harvesting, and sanitation protocols to ensure our flowers and tubers are of the highest quality.
SHIPPING: Shipping is within Canada only. We can not ship internationally. Shipping will happen April 14-30th, depending on temperatures. West Coast customers can expect their tubers to ship earlier than customers in Northern and Eastern regions. You will receive shipping and tracking information once your order has shipped. We cannot accommodate early shipping requests.
Our shipping charge is a flat $23 rate across Canada. We're happy to offer combined shipping for multiple dahlia tuber orders. Due to the volume of orders we receive, we've struggled in the past with the extra admin and handling time it takes to organize and combine multiple orders, and the headache and cost of mistakes that can happen easily. However, shipping in Canada is expensive, and we'd like to save you the cost of extra shipping if you choose to place more than one order. If you'd like to combine orders please click here and follow these steps. Please note that we can not combine shipping for orders placed under different names, email addresses, or mailing addresses.
PICKUP FROM THE FARM : We have a free pickup option for local customers. Pickup days will be at the farm in Abbotsford on Friday April 4th, Saturday April 5th, Friday April 11th and Saturday April 12th from 10am - 3pm. If you can't make it on these days, please choose shipping at checkout. If you're not 100% sure you can make it on one of these days, please choose shipping at checkout and if you end up picking up from the farm, we will refund your shipping charge when you pick your order up. We are not able to accommodate pickup outside of these pickup days.
Please mark our pickup dates in your calendar. We'll send out an email to our mailing list in April reminding everyone of pickup and shipping dates, but we won't be sending out individual notifications that your order is ready for pickup. If you're not on our mailing list, you will not receive a reminder. You can make sure you're on our mailing list here.
SEEDLING, CUTTING AND PLANT SALE : Like last year, we'll be holding a seedling and plant sale at the farm on dahlia tuber pickup days, April 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th. We'll have a large selection of specialty cut flower seedlings, sweet peas, roses, heirloom chrysanthemum plants, and dahlia plants available.
PRODUCT INFORMATION : All tubers are sold as single divisions (one tuber, not a clump of tubers). Every tuber is guaranteed to be true to variety and is carefully inspected and guaranteed to have at least one viable eye for growth. Our tubers are stored at cold temperatures and may still be dormant at shipping, so eyes may be difficult to discern upon receipt. Please trust that we have identified eyes when we were dividing and again at shipping. Dahlia tubers can take up to eight weeks to break dormancy and for eyes to begin to grow sprouts. Because we sell such a large volume of tubers, we're unable to presprout them in storage before we ship them. If you expect tubers to be sprouting when you receive them, please don't order from us as we can't guarantee they will be. Dahlias require warm temperatures to break dormancy (15+ degrees C) and most will do so quickly once the weather warms in the spring.
Dahlia tubers come in all shapes and sizes. They are like a small potato, and the size or appearance of the tuber itself (as long as it's not dried out or rotten) has absolutely nothing to do with the health of the plant or the flowers it will produce. They can be as small as an AA battery or as large as a banana. We actually prefer to plant smaller tubers. If a tuber is very large, we will often cut it shorter for ease of shipping, and we almost always cut the bottom tip of the tuber to make sure there isn't any internal rot. Sometimes tubers can become a little wrinkled in storage. None of these things will affect the performance of the tuber.
SATISFACTION GUARANTEE : Please inspect your tubers when they arrive and reach out to us by email (not on social media) within seven days if you have any concerns or questions and we'll be happy to help you. Once you've received your tubers, please store in a cool, dry place and follow the instructions for planting that will come with your order. Dahlia tubers should be planted outside after your last frost date, and should not be planted out in unseasonably cold or wet weather. If you choose to start tubers indoors early for cuttings (planting in pots with neck and eyes out of the soil) you take the risk of drying out the exposed parts of the tuber. We are committed to providing the highest quality tubers, but weather, soil, pests, and other environmental factors affect tuber performance and we can not be responsible for tubers once they've been planted by customers. Please remember that we are dealing with a natural product that moves at the pace of Mother Nature; follow planting instructions and have patience and your tubers should grow as promised.
Also please note that dahlias are a perishable product and though we work very hard to keep them at optimal conditions for storage, some varieties do not store well. Should any of our tubers be unfit to ship out in April, we will fully refund customers for the product.
DAHLIA VIRUS : New information from the American Dahlia Society's research has shown that up to 87% of asymptomatic plants may carry dormant viruses. We are extremely diligent and monitor the health of our plants carefully. We sanitize our snips between plants when cutting flowers and dividing tubers, inspect plants and dispose of any displaying symptoms of virus, employ beneficial insects for organic pest control, and as of last season do not plant imported tubers (thought to carry a higher risk of virus and disease). We don't use mechanization; we dig our tubers by hand and sanitize between plants when chopping them down at season's end. However, no environment is completely virus-free. Buyers should be aware that it is impossible to be 100% sure that a tuber is not carrying a dormant virus or disease, and by purchasing you accept that risk. Since no growing environment (including your own) can be completely sterile and virus can be spread easily by insects, we do not guarantee a refund for symptoms of virus. Please also keep in mind that symptoms of virus such as pale leaves, discolouration and stunted plants can also be caused by environmental factors such as cold and wet weather, drought, soil health, insect pressure or herbicides.
Dahlia tuber sales are final. Once orders are placed, we cannot make changes or add or subtract items.

SOME TIPS FOR TUBER SALE DAY : For quickest checkout, consider registering for Apple Pay, Google Pay or a Shop Pay account. These payments systems store your credit card and shipping information and allow for a lightning fast and accurate checkout experience.
Purchases are not guaranteed until paid for. Unfortunately, if a variety sells out before you have completed checkout it will disappear from your cart. Again, making sure you are set up with ShopPay or ApplePay will give you the fastest possible checkout.
We have placed a limit of one per household on high-demand varieties to help get them to as many customers as possible. Please respect the limits as posted. The more people we have growing these beautiful varieties, the easier they'll be to find in the years to come.
I know it can be disappointing to miss out on a variety that you really want (trust me, I've been there!) but please keep in mind that, so far, the demand for most of the varieties of dahlia tubers we grow is much greater than is possible for us to produce. While we have been expanding and growing our stock every year, we are a small family farm and our tubers and the flowers they produce are truly a labour of love that starts with us and is continued by you. Please remember during dahlia tuber sale season that we small growers are the ones who read and respond to every email and message; your kindness and understanding is so appreciated.
Thank you for choosing to purchase from our little flower farm. We truly appreciate your business and it really does mean the world to us. It's going to be a beautiful summer!
